Welcome Back

Home ›Welcome Back to a New School Year
What an exciting year this will be! Our planning has now finally come to fruition and our reconfiguration is complete. Now the fun begins as we work together with all of our partner groups to ensure that we have the best schooling system for the students of School District 52 (Prince Rupert). Our elementary schools house our students from Kindergarten to Grade 5, Prince Rupert Middle School has all of the students in Grades 6 to 8, and our high school students from Grades 9 – 12 are now together at Charles Hays Secondary School.
On behalf of Prince Rupert’s School District I would like to welcome our returning families and new families to the 2011 -2012 school year. We are truly a “community of learners” and with that in mind, I would like to invite all of you to join us in our journey to ensure that our long term goal is achieved.

Community of Learners

School District Mission
To learn, to achieve, and to strive for excellence
Long Term Goal
To ensure that every student will successfully complete his or her educational program with a sense of hope, purpose, and control
This is our new website and we hope you find it helpful in meeting your needs. It is still a work in progress and consequently there is still a link to the old webpage until we transfer all of the information.
This new website also features our new logo incorporating both the wave and the aboriginal longhouse. The wave or water in ancient times signified both life and aspiring to higher wisdom and has been so closely connected to the creation of our community while the aboriginal longhouse has always been a place on the north coast that welcomes and embraces all that are here. We believe that this new logo embodies the true nature of both the school district and the community of Prince Rupert.
Now all we need is a little sunshine to help us on our quest!
Sincerely,
Lynn Hauptman
Superintendent of Schools
